Hey! A little more about us.
Joe took an interest to photography back in middle school, what seems like forever ago. On a trip to Germany, shot more rolls of film than there were days on the trip. He quickly came to find out that buying the film was only part of the cost, then you have to develop them. In high school, he took a class that allowed him to not only shoot the photos (on his Great-Grandpa's Minolta), but also develop. Thankfully the digital age caught up in camera gear.
His first somewhat serious camera at the time was a Nikon D5200. He played around with that for years before finally deciding to go full frame, and purchased a D810. Originally, the goal was to take landscape and abstract photos, but he quickly found that it was people he liked to photograph. Flowers are pretty and whatnot, they just don't appreciate photos like people do. After a handful of weddings and family sessions, he knew that in order to have the coverage he wanted to see from his sessions, he needed to find someone else that was similar in style, both framing and editing, that also had the same goals in mind (to make our sessions fun, memorable, approachable, and affordable).
Our Gear
Not that gear makes the photographer, but it is a fun part of what we do. We're pretty heavily vested into the Nikon infrastructure for our camera bodies. But do have a handful of lenses that are Tamron or Sigma.
Our speedlights vary, but we have a handful of Nikon and Godox options in the event we need some extra light.
Joe's Gear
Typically his trusted D810, paired with a Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 is the main body and lens combo.
For portraits, you'll typically see his D750 paired with a Tamron 70-200 f/2.8.
Kyrstn's Gear
Kyrstn primarily shoots with her D780, paired with either her Nikon 24-120mm (which has a surprising amount of contrast that it provides), or floats between her Tamron 45mm f/1.8 or Tamron 85mm f/1.8 depending on the scenario
